LIVING LIBERATED

jiva = the individual self, the unenlightened soul
mukta= the state of one who is liberated
Jivanmukta=one who is enlightened to the true nature of being, while still living
Jivamukti=the state of one who is a jivanmukta

The 5 Tenants of Jivamukti Yoga:

Ahimsa (Nonviolence) - we promote compassionate lifestyle choices including: ethical vegetarianism, animal rights, social activism, and environmental activism

Bhakti (Devotion) - Setting a Intention at the beginning of every class to evoke the bhava (mood of god), using devotional altars/iconography, and encourage devotional chanting and japa mantra (repetition of the name of god). Inter religious understanding and tolerance is used.

Nada (Yoga of sound) - spiritually uplifting or thematically driven music is always used in asana class to refine conscious hearing, Kirtan (call and response chanting) is also used to refine speech

Scripture - the sources of our spiritual teachings are derived from ancient Yogic scriptures mostly used are Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Meditation- seated meditation is part of every Jivamukti Yoga session
